New Feature: Accept Feature-Length and High-Definition Videos via Submittable

Fun Factory Deluxe
Did you ever have a Playdough Fun Factory Deluxe? You could feed it random blobs of Playdough and it would magically transform them into uniform feeds of star or moon-shaped rope? Then you could make Playdough lassos or slice it into cookies. That’s sort of what video transcoding does. It takes huge video files in a wide variety of codecs that can often only play on machines with specific video software and transcodes them into uniform compressed files that can be viewed on any machine or via the web.
You can now do video transcoding with Submittable. If your publication, film festival, school, or organization needs to accept full-length features or videos of applicants or live readings, without having them submit a Vimeo or Youtube link, you can. Your submitter can upload any type of video (.avi, .mov, .mp4, .mpg) up to 4 GBs in size. And, on your end, you’ll be able to view the video in a web-friendly streaming format in most major web-browsers, on smart phones, or tablet devices. You’ll also be able to download the file to your local machine for editing and future use.
To use the feature, just select one of the video types in the form designer when you’re building your category.
VSubmittable Video Playerideo transcoding takes a lot of processing power and involves storing massive files. It’s typically expensive; our competition in video transcoding charges $15 or $10 per video, plus high annual subscription fees. With Submittable, video transcoding is included for all plan levels at Premier level and up. We feel confident we’re delivering a better alternative at a dramatically more affordable price.
Let us know if you have any questions. If you’re currently using a plan below the Premier level and would like to upgrade your plan, log in to your account and go to More > Account > Subscription Plan > Change your plan. If you have questions, please contact our support team at
